Makan-mata's
Choice :
Western Food
The
specialty must be the Fried Chicken Cutlet,
it’s the dish which the storeholders mass produce! It’s also the fastest to
get at any time and taste particularly crispy on the outside. Note: Lots of chicken skin but not much
meat! Pricey for $2.20

Char Kuay Teow
A new group of
store-holders have taken over
since January. Who
does not miss the previous owners? Raise your
hands, if you dare! The present stallholders do
not use pig oil, as a result, their food lacks taste. However, one can feel less
guilty eating it because it is less oily.

Niang Dou Fu
Very popular, especially with the majority female
population in Arts faculty. Perhaps it is because of its competitive pricing or it could
be because there is a perception that eating Niang Dou Fu is somewhat kind on the
waistline. One thing
though, for 30 cents, the amount of noodles that they give is simply miserable!
Perhaps that is what makes the females happy.

Chinese
Food Store
There
are two stores specializing in selling rice with various dishes. Zi Cha style.
The one that is next to the store selling chicken and duck rice/noodles is
particularly good, judging from the lunchtime crowd queuing at that store. Gabriel's
personal favorite.
|
Claypot
Rice
This
store sells a claypot variety of fish, chicken, beef and vegetables. It is
served together with rice. It does not enjoy long queues, but Sivakami
insists that its very good! So.. ask her to recommend what's
good!

Dumpling
Noodles
The
noodles that are found at this store rivals that of any shop outside of NUS. It
is really stringy and chewy. For just $1.80 , you get 4 pieces of dumplings,
where can you get such a good deal elsewhere? My personal favorite indeed.

Desserts
A few additions to the dessert store has led to
greater variety since the first semester. Now they have fanciful sounding
desserts i.e. Durian Ice Kachang, Soursop De fruit Cocktail, Mango Pudding De
Longan and Strawberry De Longan.

Fruit Juices
The most popular haunt when the weather is
HOT HOT!! One
thing to gripe about though are the high prices, which we certainly didn’t pay
for just to drink ICE!!
