Website Analysis

Website Analysis

The site I have chosen is www.bonny.com. It is a website by Bonny Brides, based in the United States of America, with franchisees all over the world, including Singapore. It is not a e-commerce website as you are unable to buy gowns online. It serves a informative role, a mouthpiece for the company on the Internet. It's main audience would be brides- to- be like myself or anyone interested in bridal fashion.

Firstly, the web site takes pains in maintaining a green colour scheme throughout its pages. It is aesthetically pleasing, and gives a sense of continuity. Unless one hates the colour green, there is no reason to dislike this consistency in colour. The cover page sets the tone for the web site. Its cover page is neat and the tagline simple but eye-catching. ‘Follow Your Dreams’ is apt because most brides-to-be dream of a perfect wedding.

Second, it is easy to navigate between the various pages in this web site. This is because there is a standard navigation bar throughout the web site. Navigation ease is important because it helps the user feel more comfortable with the web site.

Thirdly, the presence of a discussion forum for brides-to-be facilitates user interactivity. This is important because it encourages user volume as brides-to–be would be inspired to come back frequently to the site so as to read comments/suggestions by brides as well as to read people’s response to the things that one has posted.

Fourthly, the uploading time of the pages, especially the ones with plenty of pictures on them, is quite fast. Nothing is more irritating than having to wait for pictures to load up, especially since the Internet user has a short attention span.

One negative aspect is the infrequent rate of updates. In my opinion, this can’t be helped in a certain sense, since designs are created according to the 4 seasons. Perhaps, they could include a page on features that may interest the bride-to-be and update that section regularly.

Another negative aspect is a lack of a page where the history of the company is recorded. This does not help in the branding of the company. Casual surfers may not know how reliable this company is. People are not likely to purchase from a brand that does not establish its credentials, unlike Jessica McClintock’s web site, no matter how attractive the web site.
